(Please note: Bus information correct as of 1st September 2024. Please check with operators directly for the latest information).

Cycle

A large number of our students choose to cycle to school and we provide extensive cycle parking for students. Meadowhead School has Green Flag status as an environmental school.

Car

Meadowhead is easily accessible by car either North-South (along the A61) or East-West (along the Bochum Parkway). We would encourage car-sharing whenever possible.

Walk

Many students walk to school from nearby locations. New pedestrian crossings are planned for Dyche Lane in Autumn 2024. Students can enter the site from either Dyche Lane or Chesterfield Road (next to the Double Tree by Hilton).

Bus

The school is well-connected to the Sheffield bus network, especially along the A61/Chesterfield Road and there are a range of Sheffield and Chesterfield services that stop near school. Two school buses serve the school:

725 School Bus from Bradway

(0756/1458) to Meadowhead (0802/1450).

719 School Bus from Gleadless Townend

(07:34/15:38) to Meadowhead (07:43/15:28).

Under Discussion – Autumn 2024:

Sheffield City Council have proposed a number of changes to the transport infrastructure along the A61 corridor and around school that should further improve accessibility to Meadowhead along Chesterfield Road. See more here: https://haveyoursay.sheffield.gov.uk/a61-chesterfield-road

Following a student petition, the school has been working with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Authority to improve connectivity east-west along the ring road towards Charnock, Gleadless Townend and beyond. Follow the school on social media for further updates and you can sign the petition here: https://chng.it/KxfXJQsQb9

Sheffield City Council’s home to school travel policy states that families living within the statutory walking distances are not eligible for a ‘free’ bus pass, unless there is no safe walking route available.

If you have any queries about eligibility, please contact Customer Services on 0114 2734567 or by email customerservices@sheffield.gov.uk

NB. Travel support for children and young people with Special Educations Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) with an Education Health & Care Plan or Statement of Special Educational Needs is covered by a separate policy, and all applications are assessed against individual needs. If you have any queries about SEND travel support, please contact the Assessment & Training Team on 0114 2053542 or by email Indetravel@sheffield.gov.uk
