What is taught and how is this course different to the GCSE course?
The Applied History course focuses on the experience of migrants over a 1000 year period, students who take this option will study four main topics:
1. Raiders and invaders – The Viking, Saxon and Norman invasions.
2. International History – The Vietnam War.
3. A society in depth – The USA from war to war, 1914-1945.
4. The migrant experience – West Indian immigration during the 1950s.
This course is specially designed to suit students who prefer continuous assessment rather than the traditional assessment format of two exams at the end of year eleven.
