Futures Week - 20th - 24th March 2023
Every March, Futures Week offers the chance for each Meadowhead student to have a meaningful encounter with someone from the workplace. These opportunities help students to be prepared for the future through understanding their options beyond school, the skills and qualifications they might need for the future, the labour market and how the world of work is changing.
Students heard from over 80 employers, business owners, education and apprenticeship providers over the week. Alongside the Futures Fair, there were careers-related assemblies, lunchtime careers challenges, workshops about university and talks on careers in law and psychology.
Students had some positive feedback about the week:
‘Loved it, totally educational and really helped me!’ Y7
‘Amazing. 10 out of 10.’ Y8
‘Very interesting, lots of sweets and got an insight into certain companies.’ Y8
Our Futures Fair on 21 March was open to students from all year groups during the school day. This was a great opportunity for our students to hear about jobs and businesses that they didn't know about before and learn about careers in different kinds of industries.
Parents and carers were invited to attend the fair with their children after school from 3- 4pm, and we hope that it was useful.
The employers spoke very positively about the conversations they had with students. We would like to thank all the businesses and providers that gave up their time to support us - you can see the list of stallholders below.
Careers support happens all year round at Meadowhead, not just during Futures Week. You can find out more on this section of our website: Meadowhead - Careers
