World Book Day 2015
World Book Day 2015
On Thursday 5th March students could see some well-known book characters come to life. These included The Woman in Black, Katniss Everdeen, Alice in Wonderland, Eeyore, Count Dracula and Curly’s wife, as members of staff dressed up.
A competition was held for students to spot as many as possible throughout the day and in English lessons Y7 and Y8 students designed their own bookmarks, choosing inspirational catchphrases such as ‘Dive into a Good Book’ and ‘Be a Book Worm’ .
The Learning Centre ran a competition ‘#Shelfies’, with students taking a photo of their bookshelf and highlighting their favourite book on it.
World Book Day began with DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) with the overall aim of the day to celebrate books and how much reading for pleasure can be something enjoyed by everyone.
