German students visit for 2nd Work Experience
The second visit by our German partner school, Gymnasium auf der Karthause in Koblenz, was another great success (20th -28th April 2016).
We were very excited to welcome the students, who stayed with host families and experienced 5 days of working in local businesses thanks to our successful ERASMUS+ “work experience abroad” bid (CEWE).
Thanks to contacts made before the visit, all partners got on really well from the start and the whole group dynamic was extremely positive.
The students were able to practise and extend their linguistic and interpersonal skills in their work placements, which were again very varied, ranging from teaching in one of our Primary Feeder School (Bradway), entertaining 4 year-olds at Little Angels Nursery, creating 3D designs at Loadhog (Gripple) and looking after the animals at Graves Park Animal Farm. Many thanks go to all the businesses involved that made this project such a success for the students.
Apart from the successful work placements, students also enjoyed widening their cultural horizons, for example by visiting York (which included experiencing the special cultural tradition of Morris Dancing as part of a festival held all over the city), exploring Sheffield and the Peak District.
Everyone had a fantastic time and we are now excited about our return visit to Germany in July.
