Meadowhead students win the High Sheriff Award ….Building a Better Future Together
On Tuesday 20th February, a group of twelve KS3 students (seven Y7s, two Y8s and three Y9s) took part in the High Sheriff Award 'Building a Better Future Together' at Magna.
The challenge was to work as a team for the afternoon to develop a concept for a new sustainable STEM invention. The group came up with a fantastic idea for a medical drone to deliver aid to casualties in remote locations. All members of the team contributed to the overall design, from construction and painting to speech writing and acting! The group managed their nerves brilliantly and delivered a perfect pitch in front of a room full of parents, dignitaries and judges, including the Lord Mayor and High Sheriff.
We can now reveal that our team was placed first and we receive £500 prize money for the school, which will go towards future STEM opportunities for Meadowhead students. Two representatives from the team will attend Magna on 20th March to receive the award.
Well done to everyone involved
