Y13 History Trip to Washington DC
Y13 historians went on a school trip to Washington DC for 5 days in February Half Term.
This trip was to help them develop their understanding of American History which they studied in Year 12.
They visited the Supreme Court and Capitol building and were lucky enough to watch the Senate live is session.
They also visited Ford's Theatre to hear the story of how and where Abraham Lincoln was assassinated. Students also completed a walking tour of the Mall where they visited the Washington and Lincoln memorial, many war memorials, and the recent Martin Luther King memorial.
The trip culminated in visits to the African American Museum and the National Holocaust Museum which were very powerful and informative. The students also enjoyed eating lots of American food and visiting a shopping mall!
