Our Y11s were inspired by our guest speaker in assembly on Tuesday (5th February). Ashleigh Porter-Exley, who won BBC's Young Apprentice show in 2012, spoke of her own experiences of success and failure, including getting poor results in her mock exams and her decision to work hard to turn things around.
We would like to thank Ashleigh for her time and for engaging all students with lots of positive messages, including:
- Make use of the support on offer at school e.g. revision sessions.
- I failed my trial exams but went onto achieve strong GCSE results through hard work and determination.
- Don’t worry about other people, concentrate on what you are doing and what you can control.
- Dare to dream big, winning the Young Apprentice and being named one of the three ‘Queen’s young leaders’ came from making the right decisions in Year 11.
- Just because somebody thinks they are better than you doesn’t mean that they are!
- Have confidence in yourself and accept that failure helps you improve.
